Jobfind Selected as Finalist for Indigenous Employment Award

5 October 2011 – Jobfind Centres Australia has been selected as a finalist for the Diversity@Work 2011 Award for Employment and Inclusion of Indigenous Australians.

The annual Diversity@Work Awards recognise and reward the efforts of organisations that encourage diversity and inclusion in their workplace. In its acknowledgement as an industry leader in the employment and workplace inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, Jobfind Centres Australia has been selected as a finalist for the category of “Employment and Inclusion of Indigenous Australians”.

Jobfind, a leading provider of the Government’s Job Services Australia (JSA), operates in 128 metropolitan, regional and remote locations around Australia and has placed almost half a million people into meaningful and sustainable work since its inception in 1998. In addition to more than 10% of its employees being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, Jobfind is also proactively involved in delivering employment and training services to Indigenous Australians as a provider of Indigenous Employment Programs (IEP) and Community Development Employment Projects (CDEP) in remote Indigenous communities, as well as developing Australia’s first pre-employment training program designed specifically for Indigenous Australians, Budda-Jitja.

Furthermore, Jobfind has built a number of culturally appropriate, sensitive and supportive mechanisms into its internal Indigenous Employment Strategy to help the company successfully employ, retain and further develop the careers of its Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees at all levels within the company.

“We are very proud to have been selected as a finalist for this Award”, said Katherine Purcell, Group Human Resources Manager at Jobfind Centres Australia (pictured). “As a company, Jobfind is passionate and strongly committed to the employment and inclusion of Indigenous Australians, and we look forward to continuing our growth and success in this area.”
