17 November 2010 – Several unemployed job seekers have been offered a new start through valuable trades training and paid employment at a Local Government Housing Project in Taree.

Jobfind Taree has recently partnered with NovaSkill Port Macquarie to provide valuable trades training to job seekers through an Australian Apprenticeship Access Training Program (Introduction to Trades).

All State Labour Service and O’Donnell & Hanlon have come onboard to offer these job seekers paid employment. The job seekers will be utilising their newly acquired knowledge and skills by commencing a Local Government Housing Project in Taree this week.

“These job seekers were provided with training and practical skills by working on a new playground at the Taree Show Ground. They gained valuable experience through utilising electrical and building hand tools, digging holes and trenches, preparing surfaces and painting and decorating”, said Jodie Outtrim, Centre Manager, Jobfind Taree. “This training means that these job seekers are ready to hit the ground running when they commence employment.”

“We would like to encourage local employers to give these job seekers a chance to gain further skills on the job,” said Jodie.” Jobfind can also support employers with wage subsidies and traineeships and apprenticeships.”
