Bounce Back into Work assisting business
After the baby boomers have retired, midway through this century, there are likely to be only 2 people of working age for every person aged 65 years and over. What makes this worse is the low labour force participation rate of older people in Australia. We have a growing group of older people whose talents we will not be able to harness.
There is a very strong business case for employing mature age workers, including the fact that:
-
mature age workers will make up an increasing proportion of the workforce from this point forward
-
workforce growth will slow to unseen levels over the next 10 years
-
mature age workers are as capable as their younger counterparts
-
age-balanced workforces are shown to be more stable and productive
Mature age workers bring many positive cultural attributes to a business. They have a good work ethic, are loyal employees, and act as mentors to less experienced workers.
The Bounce Back into Work program can assist your business by putting you in touch with this valuable human resource.

jobWISE Workshops |
A one day workshop involving 50 to 80 mature age people looking for work and 20 to 30 employers. Employers attend and detail their needs and outline what their employment expectations are for a 2 hour session around lunch. Great local networking opportunity, as employers also get to meet a wide range of service providers. |
jobWISE Group Sessions |
Many employers are keen and able to give a little more to the program, and the mature age people looking for work. These employers offer an hour or two to assist in mock interviews, industry panels, talks to groups, or they may arrange workplace tours or work experience placements. Employers also benefit by what they learn from this involvement. |
One to One consultations |
An employer can request specific assistance in improving their recruitment or retention of mature age workers. This assistance is often about advice, guidance, and networking solutions. |
Information Services |
An employer can contact a Mature Age Workforce Consultant to access information, further support, and training by calling the 1300 number. |
Refer to the wise workFORCE calendar and registration pages for more information about your local activities and to register your interest in an activity.
