Where Did All the Jobs Go?

Did You Know That Around 80% of Jobs Are NOT Advertised?

It may be hard to believe, but it’s true. Most jobs aren’t advertised. However, there are still thousands of jobs every day that are. All you have to do is look in the right places. What places you ask? Good question. We suggest you target the following:

  • Newspapers
  • Company websites
  • Online job sites (like Australian Job Search, Seek or MyCareer)
  • Industry magazines or gazettes
  • Community notice boards
  • Radio
  • Employment agencies

So what about those jobs that AREN’T advertised… how do you find them? We suggest you try the following:

  • Networking – speak to family, friends, community groups and your Jobfind Consultant.
  • Door knocking – face-to-face enquiries can be powerful.
  • Cold-calling on the telephone.
  • Self-advertising – sending your resume and cover letter to companies you would like to work for.

Now, if you try any of the above make sure you follow up any calls you make or emails/letters you send. And, keep track of which companies you contact or which jobs you apply for. Finally, phone or write to ask for feedback and always be ready to sell yourself when the opportunity arises.
