Prepare a checklist...
- BE PREPARED - Prepare a script, pen, paper and a list of possible questions.
- Know the objective of your call. are you phoning to arrange an Interview, researching how they recruit, to be sent an application form etc
- Make a list of 10 people or companies to phone before beginning.
- Always write down and use names - your own, the receptionist and the employer (Personnel Officer). Be aware of their position.
- Be friendly and cooperative.
- Be clear and concise - speak clearly - sound confident.
- Make it your aim to get an interview, resume sent in or lead from every call.
- Take notes for follow up.
- Be organised - Be realistic!
