Prepare a checklist...

  • BE PREPARED - Prepare a script, pen, paper and a list of possible questions.
  • Know the objective of your call. are you phoning to arrange an Interview, researching how they recruit, to be sent an application form etc
  • Make a list of 10 people or companies to phone before beginning.
  • Always write down and use names - your own, the receptionist and the employer (Personnel Officer). Be aware of their position.
  • Be friendly and cooperative.
  • Be clear and concise - speak clearly - sound confident.
  • Make it your aim to get an interview, resume sent in or lead from every call.
  • Take notes for follow up.
  • Be organised - Be realistic!
