Who is Jobfind?

Jobfind Centres Australia is part of the Angus Knight Group, a privately owned Australian organisation. Established in 1998 as a foundation member of the Australian Government’s Job Network, Jobfind now services job seekers and employers in metropolitan and regional areas from 28 main locations across Australia, as well as numerous outreach sites and remote areas.

Jobfind has an excellent reputation within the industry and with our key stakeholder, the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR).  Our dedicated staff have placed over 150,000 job seekers with employers and made a significant difference to the quality of many people’s lives.

Our Vision and Mission

Our vision is to lead in lifelong learning and employability. This Vision expresses that we are creating a truly great company, one with a clear vision, positive and engaging values and great leaders; that we will provide our staff with roles offering scope, accountability and challenge; and that the opportunity for learning and growth will be with us every day.

Our mission is to utilise our expertise and understanding of the Employment Services environment to empower job seekers to fulfil their potential within the Australian workforce.

Why Work for Jobfind?

Jobfind is a national organisation with an outstanding reputation for excellence.  It is an organisation that makes a positive contribution to the lives of many individuals and in turn society as a whole, and staff are able to see first-hand how they contribute to making that difference.  In addition to the many attractive benefits Jobfind employees are entitled to, there is the opportunity to work alongside and be mentored by some of the leading figures in the employment and corporate sectors.  Furthermore, working for a company that is constantly expanding ensures that there are excellent ongoing opportunities for both personal and professional development.

Employer of Choice

Jobfind Centres Australia is proud of its history of excellent employee relations. Not only does Jobfind pay above award conditions but it also has a certified Enterprise Agreement which offers a number of additional employment benefits such as paid Birthday and Diversity day leave as well as a Healthy Lifestyle Allowance of $100 per annum tax free for approved lifestyle usage. Staff also have access to a number of incentive schemes based on individual, Centre and company performance.

Jobfind recognises that stable, satisfied and well-informed employees are the best ambassadors for any organisation and that this will carry through to passion for their job and commitment to quality client service. Jobfind undertakes a yearly Organisational Effectiveness Survey, which gives employees an additional avenue to voice any concerns and rate how the business is going. “In an industry characterised by high staff turnover, low pay and an ongoing need for staff to keep motivation levels up for clients, one Job Network member – Jobfind Centres Australia – has emerged from the pack with ‘world’s best practice’ approval ratings from 204 employees surveyed across 27 locations Australia-wide.”

Jobfind commissioned leading researcher Quantum Management to facilitate this survey that covered areas such as Ethics and Integrity, External Customer Service, Cohesion, Organisational Commitment, Innovation, Family/Lifestyle Situation and many others.

‘“The results were staggering…a real breakthrough!” says Con Kittos, Jobfind Managing Director. “Not only did we improve in 17 of the 25 key performance indicators but 15 of the ratings were at ‘world’s best practice’ level

“We set several new rating records for Quantum’s client base which includes a broad spectrum from the Australian Professional Services sector. Ethics and Integrity came in with a 96% rating, EEO scored 84% (20% higher than the benchmark) , Job Satisfaction scored 83% and External Customer Service scored 93%. We proudly hold our head up high as a truly professional organisation and an employer of choice”.’

The single most important contributor has been our long-term, ongoing commitment to attracting and developing the right people. Ours is a service industry and our most important asset is our people.

Jobfind currently has over 330 staff employed at 33 centres around the country, and is rapidly expanding.  Our staff are employed across a wide range of challenging and diverse roles in areas such as case management, sales, training, IT, finance, human resources and administration.  As an EEO employer Jobfind also aims to foster diversity in the workplace.  Approximately 15% of our staff are identified as Indigenous Australians while 14% of our employees are able to speak a second and sometimes third language, in total covering 32 languages including sign language.  This diversity helps to promote cultural awareness and understanding across our employees and job seekers alike.

Education and Training

As a company that aims to lead in lifelong learning and employability, Jobfind recognises the value of education. Staff are not only fully trained in their roles but are encouraged to undertake any education or training that would be beneficial to them in their future career.  Such support may extend, but not be limited, to allowance of time off for examinations or seminars, flexible working hours, and some financial assistance. Salary sacrificing is also available for approved educational courses.

In addition, along with our job seekers all staff are eligible to undertake any of the 85 training courses available on LearnNow.  These courses range from short modules aimed at improving skills in PC usage, negotiation or time management to accredited courses in Hospitality and Retail. All courses are free of charge.

Employee Assistance Program

Jobfind employs the services of Davidson Trahaire Corpsych (DTC) to provide staff and their immediate families with free confidential, off-site counselling. The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is designed to offer short-term, solution focused assistance through comfortable, open discussions with qualified professionals either face-to-face or over the phone.  DTC staff can provide advice on a variety of family, personal and work-related issues.  Furthermore, staff and their families are also able to use EAP Direct, an online service that allows access to articles offering helpful and practical information, self assessment tools, and a secure link to get in touch with their counsellors.

Career Development

Jobfind believes in developing and promoting from within, encouraging and supporting current employees in applying for any internal vacancies that may arise.  This creates an opportunity for staff to progress in their career with Jobfind and to develop new and existing skills.  In testimony to the success of this practise, Jobfind has a significant track record in home growing our Team Leaders and Managers.  As the company continues to expand, this will open up even more opportunities in the future for career development.

Company Growth

Jobfind has a strategy of growth through new business via tenders and acquisitions. We have acquired two Job Network businesses, one from Skilled Centred Queensland in October 2006 and Pegler Personnel in Mt Gambier in October 2007.  We have also won new business and opened new sites in Alice Springs, Mt Isa and Katherine in October 2007, and Steper’s programs in Townsville, Launceston and Sydney (Tribal Warrior).  Jobfind also manages a CDEP Program in Lockhart River in Northern Queensland and has recently won the opportunity to support another CDEP Program in Arkakun via a Project Manager to assist the community through significant change.  Jobfind is proud of the fact that during the acquisitions of Skill Centred Queensland and Pegler Personnel, not one employee was made redundant.

OH&S

Jobfind is committed to compliance with OH&S legislation, and protecting the environment, health and safety (EH&S) of our employees, customers, and communities in which we operate. This includes provision of a no smoking policy in all our locations. OH & S responsibility rests with everyone. Jobfind works in agreement with staff that there is a joint ‘duty of care’ to co-operate regarding the provisions of the relevant legislation, as amended from time to time, and outlined in Jobfind’s Policies and Procedures on OH&S.

Work/life Balance

Jobfind is not only committed to achieving the highest level of standards and results within the industry but also endeavours to create a welcoming and comfortable work environment for its staff.  We aim to promote a positive work/life balance through having well-defined working hours, flexibility in helping staff to meet their family or personal obligations, as well as a social aspect through team activities within the workplace such as fundraising events or our Holiday Season parties.

Recruitment Process

Jobfind looks to employ appropriately skilled and qualified employees who share our values, are performance driven and have a thirst for continued learning and growth. However, in turn we recognise how important a career and the decisions related to that choice are to an individual. Our recruitment process is designed to be of the most benefit to both parties and is conducted in a consistent, professional and timely manner without regard to irrelevant factors such as a person's sex (including pregnancy), sexual preference, transgender status, race, colour, ethnic or ethno-religious background, descent or national identity, marital status, disability, age, political conviction or religious belief.

The following details the relevant stages of that process:

  • Interested applicants are asked to send a copy of their resume and a covering letter to Human Resources at GPO Box 5239, Sydney, NSW, 2001, by email to employment@jobfindcentre.com.au or fax (02) 9259 5500
  • All applications are screened by Human Resources in regards to their fit with the selection criteria
  • Preferred candidates are contacted by Jobfind and undergo a phone screen
  • Successful candidates are then put forward for a formal interview with the relevant Manager. All information, including a position description, will be emailed (or verbally conveyed) to candidates prior to their interview. They in turn are required to supply a copy of their birth certificate, passport or citizenship as part of the process
  • Successful candidates then undertake an Employability Skills Profile assessment
  • In some cases candidates may undergo an additional final interview
  • Human Resources will verbally contact two professional references for each successful candidate
  • Successful candidates are contacted and made a formal offer of employment
  • Following verbal acceptance of the offer, employment contracts and relevant documents are sent out to the candidate
  • Unsuccessful candidates will either be contacted via phone, email or post
  • All new employees undergo a one week induction from their start date to facilitate the transition into their new role as well as training in their specific role for up to 3 months
