SE Queensland's disadvantaged job seekers get major boost from Jobfind acquisition

Sydney 23 October, 2006 – SE Queensland’s employers, and disadvantaged job seekers such as new entrants to the workforce and those returning from a break in employment, received a massive boost from today’s announcement that Jobfind Centres Australia Pty Ltd has acquired the Job Network ® business of Skill Centred Queensland.

Since 1998, Australian-owned Jobfind has matched more than 100,000 employers and job seekers in 20 locations across the country through its Government-backed Job Network services.

Jobfind focuses on assisting single parents, indigenous people, those who have been made redundant and people with disabilities, to get off welfare and into rewarding employment, free of charge. It achieves this through career coaching, training and re-skilling programs and job matching services. These programs enable people to fulfil their work and career goals.

With its acquisition of Skill Centred’s Job Network operations, Jobfind brings its experience and skills to Queensland’s South East, one of the fastest growing populations in Australia.

The move represents a powerful merger of capabilities, according to Con J Kittos, CEO of Jobfind Centres Australia.

Jobfind brings large employer opportunities, a phenomenal depth of skills and experience, and new technology-based solutions to the region. Meanwhile, local know-how and community relationships established by the employees who have joined Jobfind from Skill Centred will ensure that we continue to deliver a highly personalised service to employers and job seekers alike,” he said.

In addition, because Jobfind is owned by the Angus Knight Group, a major Australian and New Zealand provider of integrated human performance solutions, it will be able to introduce to SE Queenslanders further employment-boosting services, such as e-learning capabilities.

Mr Kittos said, “This will be especially exciting for job seekers with outdated skills, such as single parents and mature aged workers, or those in remote locations looking to upskill to take advantage of new employment opportunities in the region. It will also be very welcome news to employers currently unable to find the quality of staff they need to take advantage new business opportunities.”

Merger Details

Effective from 30 October 2006, Jobfind has become the official provider of Job Network services to all job seekers and employers currently serviced by Skill Centred.

Combined, the organisations will service 100,000 employers in Queensland, New South Wales, Northern Territory, Tasmania and Western Australia.

All Skill Centred staff working on the company’s Job Network business have been offered employment by Jobfind.

Jim Walker, former Operations Manager for Skill Centred Queensland’s Job Network business, will continue to manage the Job Network services in the region on behalf of Jobfind, and will report to Con J Kittos.

Skill Centred’s other services will not be affected by this announcement, and will continue to operate as usual under the Skill Centred Queensland brand.
