Jobfind is pleased to announce Phillip Angrave as our Job Seeker of the Week.

Phillip, a 49 year old man has extensive work experience in a variety of industries including farming & a 20 year career in the horse racing industry where he performed roles in horse management, a stable hand and had stints as a jockey. Other extensive work experience has been in total yard maintenance & lawn mowing.

Recently he also completed a certificate 2 in Warehousing and did a work placement with Coles at Warilla.

He has a current First Aid certificate, White card and a Manual Handling certificate.

Jobfind Dapto business manager Claudine Levy said: “Phillips work ethic is demonstrated in many ways, his stints as farm & stable hands means he knows the meaning of hard work and everyone knows that jockeys have a lot of grit and determination.

Phillip has never missed an appointment and will absolutely do whatever it takes to get the job done. “

Claudine added that Phillip received in 2016 a commendation award for going above and beyond his volunteering requirements as part of a joint venture event between Jobfind and Wollongong City Council- Australia Day Celebration.

“He personally received this award from the Wollongong Lord Mayor- Gordon Bradbury at a celebratory dinner attended by many local dignitaries.”

Phillip has had to overcome some of life’s challenges including anxiety and depression, but he believes having a satisfying sustainable working life plays an important role in maintaining a positive outlook on life.

Phillip is also principle carer for his daughter so he is looking for an employer that can be a little flexible so that he is able to take his daughter to primary school and pick her up in the afternoon.

In receiving his accolade as Job Seeker of the Week Phillip said he was thrilled to receive the award.

“Receiving this is quite unexpected but I’m hoping this added publicity will assist me in getting a role that I can really get stuck into and develop a long term career path.” he said.

Wollongong Jobseeker of the week – Alafita Faletoese

August 11th, 2017

Alafita Faletoese, a registered nurse, met with her Employment Consultant Christina Armstrong 6 weeks ago. She stated she previously had a severe case of tendonitis in her wrist which has now healed and that she had not worked for over 18 months. She presented with anxiety issues, negative behaviour and low self-esteem about getting back into the workforce.

By building up her self-esteem and with support from her consultant during weekly appointments, and being part of our JOBFIND Club, her consultant was able help Alafita realise she has a rewarding career ahead of her. This helped Alafita to present herself with a more positive attitude and enthusiasm during her interviews with employers. As a result, Alafita now has a contract with Griffith Hospital as a registered nurse in Griffith, NSW!

We have to remember when people have been out of the workforce and have had an injury, it can be a scary thing to go back into the workforce. Alafita started believing in herself and this changed her life.

We as consultants can turn this around with strong support and encouragement by helping participants to grow their self-belief.
