Work Experience and Work for the Dole
Under the Job Services Australia contract, job seekers may be required to complete a phase of Work Experience in order to meet their obligations. There are many Work Experience activities including study, voluntary work and Green Corps.
Work for the Dole is also an activity job seekers can undertake to meet their obligations, gain skills, complete work experience and actively contribute to the community. We partner with community and not-for-profit organisations to design individual and group Work for the Dole activities.
As you know, no two community organisations are the same – some are large and well-resourced while others rely on volunteers to maintain essential community services. With these differences in mind, Jobfind does not expect all organisations to be equally equipped to fully manage a Work for the Dole activity. However, there are 2 main ways you can be involved:
Become a Sponsor
As a Sponsor, your organisation has hands-on involvement in the management of an activity over a 6 month period. You have the opportunity to develop an activity and prepare the final proposal. Negotiated funding for supervisors, materials, tools and equipment may be provided upfront and Sponsors manage this funding in line with the approved budget and acquit the funding at the end of the activity.
Become a Host
As a Host, your organisation will work with Jobfind to identify possible job placements within your organisation. Jobfind manages the activity and funding day-to-day, while Hosts are simply responsible for providing appropriate tasks for participants.
